 Research Databases

Research Databases hold a collection of reputable sources that included journals, magazines, newspapers, primary documents, images, videos, etc. that help students with topics they are researching.

Many libraries subscribe to these important databases. Regina Dominican subscribes to the following databases and each have different sources and are useful for younger or older high school students.

  • Gale Database is simpler and easier database to navigate and understand the material.
  • JSTOR Database  is for upper high school and college students as the information are mainly peer-reviewed journals with scholarly and often scientific information.
  • EBSCO Database  has been provided to all Illinois school and public libraries through a generous grant by the State of Illinois. You will find many different types of databases for all types of topics and students, so everyone should take a look.

Free Databases
There are numerous OPEN SOURCE databases on the internet that provide reliable research sources that are free. Please take a look at the library's ongoing list of websites that have been checked and verified as acceptable for research purposes.
